Nook and ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Chancellor Dan White make the rounds at the Fall Career Fair held Oct. 12 in the Wood Center on the Troth Yeddha' Campus.

In this season of gratitude, I am so thankful to be part of the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks community. ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is a unique place (and I’m not just saying that because I am the chancellor). On the Troth Yeddha’ Campus, we are currently experiencing only a handful of hours of daylight, and the temperatures are dropping as we near the solstice. This winter, our community is more connected than ever.

This past semester, I had the opportunity to attend several Nanook athletics games where our community came together to cheer on the Blue and Gold. There were events on campus in Fairbanks and at the rural campuses almost every evening, from student paint nights to movie screenings to lectures. Our miles of groomed ski trails in Fairbanks are constantly in use, and the ice rink on campus is full of youth hockey teams rotating in for practices. ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is a thriving campus because of our engaged and passionate community.

Thank you to all of our community, from students to employees, donors, Nanook fans and small business owners who proudly hire ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ graduates. In this edition of the Aurora, there are stories featuring generous donors, our growing esports community and the Giving Tuesday initiative. All of this is possible because of the passionate and engaged community that surrounds ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.

Thank you!
