CCHRC housing was a collaboration between the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Office of Sustainability and the nonprofit . Their use as student housing through ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Residence Life was discontinued in fall 2019.
Students were involved in designing and building the village of four 1,600-square-foot, four-bedroom homes on ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ property near the CCHRC headquarters.
Each house has a unique combination of wall assembly, foundation and heating and ventilation systems. Researchers with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory, who now occupy the CCHRC building, monitor each home for energy consumption, electricity use, indoor air quality and ground temperature.
