Brews, Brains, and Bavarian Fun: Oktoberfest Trivia Night Recap!
The Oktoberfest-themed pub trivia night at the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Pub on September 3rd was a tremendous success! A big thank you to everyone who came out, and to the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Pub for graciously hosting us. We had a fantastic group of participants, backed by enthusiastic volunteers, and some truly wild activities that kept the energy high throughout the evening. The competition was intense, with just one point separating the first, second, and third place teams. A huge congratulations to the "Comm Brats" from the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Department of Communication, who snagged first place and all the bragging rights as the official "Breadwinners" of the evening!
As a lead-up to our larger Oktoberfest celebration, don’t miss the engaging Oktoberfest Discussion Panel on September 19th. Hosted by the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Department of Global Languages and Literatures, the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ German Club, and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, this event will take place from 7-9 PM in the BP Theater, with a Zoom option available for those who can't attend in person. The panel will feature esteemed speakers including Helga Wagenleiter, Elliott Anderson, Sarah McConnell, Zoe Jones, and Bobby Wilken, who will delve into the history, music, architecture, and brewing traditions of Germany. Enjoy authentic Bavarian food and live accordion music by Angelika Krinner-Crouteau, with CLA Dean Ellen Lopez kicking off the festivities as the honorary “mayor of Munich.â€
And then, join us on September 20th from 11 AM to 2 PM on the lower ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ campus for the vibrant Oktoberfest celebration. There will be live music, a photo booth, a stein-carrying contest, arm wrestling, yodeling lessons, and a German beer tasting for those 21+. Rain or shine, the festivities will continue, with the Wood Center as our backup location. Sponsored by the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Department of Global Languages and Literatures, the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ German Club, and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Prost!
