Chalk the Walk

Students and faculty from the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program pose for a group photo during their Chalk the Walk event. ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Photo On Wednesday, September 18th, the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program organized a heartwarming event called "Chalk the Walk" in support of Suicide Prevention Month. Students, faculty, and staff came together to stencil uplifting messages around campus using washable chalk paint. The hour-long afternoon event aimed to spread hope, encourage positivity, and promote awareness of mental health resources available to the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ community. The vibrant messages, such as "You Matter" and "Hope is Real," created a supportive atmosphere across campus, reminding everyone that they are not alone.

Suicide Prevention Month, observed every September, is dedicated to raising awareness about suicide, encouraging meaningful conversations, and providing support to those who may be struggling. It’s a time to reach out to friends, family, and community members to show support and help break the stigma surrounding mental health. If you or someone you know needs help, there are valuable resources available. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached 24/7 at 988, and the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Student Health and Counseling Center is another supportive campus resource.
