Dear ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ faculty and staff,

Today, our nation celebrates Juneteenth, a federal holiday that commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last of the enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, were freed. It is also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day or Emancipation Day and commemorates the end of chattel slavery in the U.S. following the passage of the 13th Amendment.

I encourage you to reflect, celebrate and explore the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Share, Learn, Grow page to learn how you can celebrate Juneteenth and engage in growing a more inclusive and caring community.

Thanks for choosing ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.

— Dan White, chancellor
