Faculty, staff and students,Ìý
As many of you are aware, the widespread use of generative Artificial Intelligence
tools such as ChatGPT has exploded over the past year. These technologies are already
rapidly changing the landscape of higher education. As an institution, we have an
opportunity to understand and adapt to these changes.
At ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, we are committed to high standards of academic integrity and excellence in
teaching, research, and service. We are also committed to preparing our students to
enter an ever-changing world. As an institution, we are open to the use of AI outside
of specific cases where academic or research needs exclude its use. Over the next
year, I encourage our university community to thoughtfully explore the resources made
available by this emerging technology, such as thisprepared by ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Center for Teaching and Learning.
In the coming months, I will host a Chancellor’s Forum to discuss opportunities and
concerns regarding AI in higher education. I look forward to learning together how
we can best utilize this technology in pursuit of our mission to provide excellence
through transformative experiences.
Thank you,
Dan White, chancellor
