ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ faculty and staff,

Many of you are aware that a number of the executive orders recently released will have impacts on universities across the country and, to varying extents, on ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. In particular, on Jan. 27 the White House budget office ordered a pause in grants, loans and other federal financial assistance across all sectors. Since we received these orders, we have worked with the UA system office and General Counsel to better understand the legal landscape and potential impacts of the orders on research and education programs.

Based on conversations that are ongoing, I expect more detailed information from the system office later today. From this guidance, we hope to have clarity on actions that will or may need to be taken as a result of the orders.

If individuals/researchers are getting messages from funding agencies, please reach out to the provost or your vice chancellor, who can help get answers to specific questions. For the time being, please continue the good work you are doing for ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.

Thank you.

— Dan White, chancellor
