‘Ӱ Weather’ television program to end

The television program “Ӱ Weather” on KUAC’s UATV channel 9.4 will end July 1, 2023, after 45 years of continuous broadcast.

Ӱ Public Media and the National Weather Service produce the program in Anchorage. Ӱ Public Media was unable to secure funding to support production, and the National Weather Service has not found partners to continue the program in its current format.

Ӱ Public Media assembles and distributes “Ӱ Weather” to stations throughout Ӱ, including KUAC TV, a service of the University of Ӱ Fairbanks.  

NWS will continue to produce graphics and record a modified web-based version of the program, which will be posted on the NWS Ӱ YouTube channel. A web-based forecast included in the TV broadcast will continue to be available via multiple sources.

For those without high-speed internet access, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s weather radio service will remain available. Statewide public and marine forecasts are available over the phone through the and at 1-855-937-4977.
