The Board of Regents (BoR) will hold a full board meeting starting next Thursday, Nov. 5, at 8 a.m. The meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, and on Friday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon. Subcommittees will meet tomorrow and Friday to discuss Academic and Student Affairs, Facilities and Land Management, and Audit. I encourage you to check out the and watch the livestream for those issues of interest to you.

One topic that is consequential to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is the differentiated tuition discussion. The topic will be discussed first at the Academic and Student Affairs Committee meeting tomorrow and then next week at the full board meeting. If approved, AY21-22 would increase the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ upper-division tuition by 2.5% and graduate-level tuition by 5%, holding lower-level tuition flat. This is an important step for keeping Community and Technical College tuition rates down.

The BoR will also discuss the FY22 operating and capital budget, and get updates on ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHPP), campus construction, and our efforts to assess gravel resources on the Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center. Last but not least, a Title IX update will be provided by each of the university chancellors. On that note, if you have not taken your Title IX training in myUA, you have until this Friday to complete the systemwide required training on time.

Thank you for choosing ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.
