Forester plans walks, talks on Kenai Peninsula

Kenai Peninsula forests will be the topic of walks and a talk by ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Cooperative Extension Service Outreach Forester Glen Holt this month.

Learn about the Kenai Peninsula forests in interactive walks and talks with the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service’s outreach forester. Glen Holt will discuss forest succession and ecology, identify trees and shrubs and talk about creating defensible space in case of wildfires. He also will discuss the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Forest Stewardship Program and planning, preparing and implementing forest improvements on the Kenai Peninsula.

The walks will be hands-on and interactive. Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing. Rain gear, rubber boots and insect repellent are recommended. Participants must be 12 or older. No dogs, please.
