In a Time of Change: Boreal Echoes exhibition
A new exhibit, Boreal Echoes, showcases art inspired by the boreal forest and the scientists who study it. The exhibit, produced by the collaborative arts-humanities-science program In a Time of Change is available for viewing in the Bear Gallery in the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Centennial Center for the Arts at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks. The exhibit will run at the gallery through Sept. 28, Monday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.
In ITOC’s previous project, Boreal Forest Stories, artists, writers, and educators embarked on field trips, scientific presentations, and artist craft talks, then created original works inspired by the boreal biome.
Following the Boreal Forest Stories exhibit in September 2022, thirteen visual artists chose to continue their explorations and create Boreal Echoes. These artists held monthly creative group activities to deepen their knowledge, spark new collaborations, and expand their creative horizons.
Founded in 2007 by the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Research in Fairbanks, ITOC facilitates and produces collaborative arts-humanities-science exhibits and events focused on ecological themes important to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.
ITOC is directed by University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks professor Mary Beth Leigh. .
