Managing Perceptions and Reputational Risks
It's common to think about risk management in terms of insurance, contract reviews, and waivers. More broadly, the practice of risk management takes stock of potential opportunities and threats, weighs them against our organization's strategic goals, and determines which chances are worth taking. When we choose to skip a safety requirement or treat someone unkindly, it can leave an impression on those we interact with outside of the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ community. Ask yourself: Do my actions align with our institutional and professional values? Am I contributing to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s stellar reputation? After all, reputational risks are about perception! For more information or questions, contact Becca Whitman, your ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ risk manager, at 907-474-5487 or rwhitman@alaska.edu.
