Outdoor syringe disposal kiosk available at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ

The Community Opioid Intervention Project has placed an outdoor syringe disposal kiosk at the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Police Department.

The ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ kiosk is located outside the Police Department entrance at 1788 Yukon Dr., and is available to all, with 24/7 access and no questions asked. Students and the community, including diabetic individuals, can utilize this option as a safe way to dispose of used syringes.

COIP is an outpatient program at the Fairbanks Native Association that is designed to bring awareness to the opioid crisis in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. COIP has educational and prevention materials available on various opioid-related topics, as well as on addressing stigma and implementing harm reduction strategies.

COIP would like to thank the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Police Department, Health and Counseling Center, and Environmental Health and Safety Risk Management for supporting this initiative and making our community a safer place.
