Transition for the Department of Equity and Compliance director, Title IX coordinator, and chief diversity officer

Margo Griffith (left), led ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s Department of Equity and Compliance and served as Title IX and ADA/504 coordinator. Kaydee Van Flein (right), the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ director of the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities, will serve as the Department of Equity and Compliance interim director, and assume the roles of Title IX coordinator and chief diversity officer until the position can be filled.

Margo Griffith has accepted a position with the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ System, Human Resources office as the director of special projects. Griffith has led the Department of Equity and Compliance and served as Title IX and ADA/504 coordinator for over six years, advancing ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s efforts in growing a culture of respect, diversity, inclusion and caring. Her leadership during a challenging time of changing federal regulations was instrumental in laying a solid foundation for ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s Department of Equity and Compliance. Griffith assumes her new role with UA HR on Feb. 6 and said she is looking forward to working with and supporting UA’s employees and students.

Kaydee Van Flein, the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ director of the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities will serve as the Department of Equity and Compliance interim director starting Feb. 4. She will also assume the roles of Title IX coordinator and chief diversity officer. Van Flein helped establish the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities in 2018 and was appointed in 2021 as the first permanent director. She has in-depth experience in Student Conduct, Student CARE, and the Clery Act, and has worked closely with the Department of Equity and Compliance over the past six years. She will serve in the interim position while maintaining her current role until the position can be filled. Van Flein said she is excited to continue the incredible work being done by such critical offices on campus.
