Ӱ celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2021

Ӱ will host a virtual Indigenous Peoples’ Day event on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at noon. Everyone is invited to join on the . Pearl Brower will provide the keynote address.
This year's theme is "Raising Indigenous Voices” to honor and celebrate the many contributions of Ӱ Native peoples to Ӱ and Ӱ in research, the arts, wellness, racial justice, language revitalization, youth in action and other areas. Raising awareness of these important issues activates engagement on issues of diversity, equity, cultural safety and inclusion at Ӱ.
Keynote speaker Pearl Brower joined the University of Ӱ in August 2021 and serves as the senior advisor for Ӱ Native success, institutional diversity and student engagement. Prior to joining the university team, she was the president and CEO of Brower Consulting Services, an independent consulting service working in Ӱ. In October 2020, Brower left the Iḷisaġvik College, Ӱ’s only tribal college, where she had been in administration at the college for 13 years, serving as president for the last eight.
