Week’s events: Arts talk, Dr. Zink, voting lecture, jazz music

University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of July 31-Aug. 6:

  • On Monday, Aug. 1, the Tall Timbers interview series will feature a conversation with community arts leader June Rogers. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will lead the discussion, which will be at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of Ӱ’s Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility.
  • On Tuesday, Aug. 2, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Dr. Anne Zink, Ӱ’s chief medical officer, discussing “Ӱ’s Health Scorecard: Moving Toward a Healthier Ӱ,” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 3, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will host journalist and historian Dermot Cole, on “Ranked Choice Voting: Will it Work for Ӱ?” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 4, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the Fairbanks Community Jazz Band at 7 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.
