Week’s events: Mary Shields, sleep science, space weather, eclectic music

University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening the week of June 26-July 2:

  • On Monday, June 27, the Tall Timbers interview series will include a conversation with musher and adventurer Mary Shields. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will lead the discussion, which will be at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of Ӱ’s Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility.
  • On Tuesday, June 28, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Dr. Clay Triplehorn discussing “Improving Sleep and Using Novel Technologies,” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, June 29, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will feature Don Hampton, research associate professor of atmospheric and space science, on “Sunny with a Chance of Electron Precipitation: Space Weather and What it Means to You,” at 7 p.m. at the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, June 30, the Music in the Garden concert series will host Kinky Slinky, a trio with an eclectic playlist, at 7 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.
