Week’s events: Simon Rakower, simulating disaster, mixed media for beginners, acoustic tunes

University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of July 10-16:

  • On Monday, July 10, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series honors Simon Rakower, Fairbanks bicycle expert. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, July 11, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Lori Gilbertoni, registered nurse, discussing “The Art of Simulating Health Disasters and the Science of Response.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, July 12, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will host Madara Mason, visual artist and associate director of teaching and learning for Ӱ eCampus. She will present “Contemporary Mixed Media Methods for Beginners” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, July 13, the Music in the Garden concert series will offer an evening of acoustic Americana with Jameson Effect at 7 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the Ӱ Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
