Week’s events: Theresa Reed, considering cancer, Kesler Woodward, steel drums

University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of June 26-July 2:

  • On Monday, June 26, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series honors Theresa Reed, retired music teacher, performer, theatrical costumer and advocate for the arts. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, June 27, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Dr. Andrew Cox, oncologist, discussing “A Systematic Approach to Considering a Cancer Diagnosis in 2023.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, June 28, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will feature Kesler Woodward, professor emeritus of art. He will discuss “Why Scientists Might Want to Work with Artists” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, June 29, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Cold Steel Drums at 7 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the Ӱ Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
