Week’s events: Tom Bundtzen, lifestyle as medicine, crafting community, string band

University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of Aug. 7-13:

  • On Monday, Aug. 7, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Tom Bundtzen. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, Aug. 8, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Dr. Sally Mangum, internist, with a presentation on “Lifestyle as Medicine” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 9, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will feature Jess Peña, executive director of Fairbanks Arts Association. She will discuss “Crafting Community: Creative Community-Building in and Through the Arts” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 10, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the The ET Barnette String Band at 7 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the Ӱ Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
