Week’s events: Wendell Schiffler, senior living choices, art talk, marimba music

University of Ӱ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of July 24-30:

  • On Monday, July 24, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Wendell Schiffler. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, July 25, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Vickie Wilson, former director of the Division of Ӱ Pioneer Homes. She will discuss “Senior Living Choices in Fairbanks as We Age” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, July 26, the Discover Ӱ lecture series will feature Scott Holladay, adjunct instructor in sculpture, presenting “What is it Ӱ Art?” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, July 27, the Music in the Garden concert series will present the Serevende Marimba Ensemble at 7 p.m. at Ӱ’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the Ӱ Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
