Workshops offered for pesticide applicators, landscapers

Brandy McLean sprays herbicides on roadside weeds for the Salcha-Delta Soil and Water Conservation District. Continuing education courses are available for certified pesticide applicators like McLean.
The annual ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Certified Pesticide Applicator Workshop is a professional development opportunity that provides continuing education units for ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ-certified pesticide applicators and related arborist/landscape professionals to maintain their certifications. It is hosted by the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service.
The two-day continuing education course, with a total of 12 CEUs that satisfy ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Department of Environmental Conservation certification requirements, will be held March 12-13, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Day 1 (6 CEUs) will feature presentations on structural pest control.
Day 2 (6 CEUs) will feature presentations on outdoor integrated pest management for trees, shrubs and landscapes.

Both workshops will be held in person and online in Room 107 at the University of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Anchorage Gorsuch Commons, 3700 Sharon Gagnon Lane, Anchorage. The fee is $60 per day. Lunch will be provided for those attending in person, and parking is free in the Willow Lot for those who have registered.
