Writers series presents fall 2023 Poetry Showcase

The University of Ӱ Fairbanks English Department’s Midnight Sun Visiting Writers Series will present the fall 2023 Poetry Showcase at Schaible Auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m.

The live reading will feature Ӱ professor emeritus John Morgan, Ӱ alumna Nicole Stellon O’Donnell and Ӱ student Isabel Rhodes.

The event is free and open to all members of the public.

“The Poetry Showcase will feature three generations of Ӱ poets: an undergraduate student, an alumna and current teacher, and a former professor and program director,” said Joseph Holt, the series director and an English Department faculty member. “Isabel, Nicole and John are all distinguished poets in their own right, and together they’ll provide a great introduction to the university and Fairbanks poetry community.”

The Midnight Sun Visiting Writers Series showcases and celebrates the vibrant literary community in Ӱ and beyond. Through readings, lectures and events, it connects audiences with renowned and emerging writers, providing an opportunity to engage with the world of literature on a personal level.
