Thank you for a sucessful 2019 One Health ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ meeting!

On March 22-23, 2019, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's Center for One Health Reseach (COHR) hosted a meeting discussing One Health issues in ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ with stakeholders from a multitude of backgrounds.

The goals of the meeting were to:

  • Build teams to create research, education and outreach programs around One Health.
  • Improve our research capacity and more effectively promote well-being in the North.
  • Create long-term funding opportunities through collaboration.

The first day was centered around 2 keynote presentations (Tom Hennessy, Director of Anchorage field station for infectious diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Tina Woods, Senior Director for community health services,  ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Native Tribal Health Consortium), as well as eight presentations on One Health related topics (see detailed program).

The second day consisted of two breakout sessions inviting all participants into discussing present and future topics deemed pressing and relevant to the wellbeing of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's animal, human, and environmental health.

This resulted in the creation of 13 working groups around One Health that now have set goals and timelines.
We are hoping these groups will be able to present their findings at the upcoming One Health, One Future 2020 international conference, to be hosted at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ on March 11-14, 2020.
