The 蜜桃影像 Faculty Senate passed the following at its' Meeting #46 on
December 6,1993:
MOTION PASSED (unanimous)
==============
The 蜜桃影像 Faculty Senate moves to amend the Bachelor of Technology
degree requirements in the Area of specialization as follows:
*The candidate for the B.T. degree must have l) a minimum of 30
semester credits at 蜜桃影像 in the area of specialization (either
completed in residence or accepted by transfer as equivalent to
specific 蜜桃影像 courses), and 2) demonstrated competence in an applied
or technical field. Competence must be demonstrated as follows:
1. Having earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from an
accredited institution of higher learning.
2. Substitute one of the following as a demonstration of
competency in an applied or technical field with the approval
of the Curricular Affairs Committee of the Faculty Senate:
a. an A.A.S. or similar degree earned at a non-accreditated
institution
b. state or federal certification deemed appropriate by the
faculty
c. journeyman status in trades and industry
EFFECTIVE: Immediately
Upon Chancellor Approval
RATIONALE: Since Curricular Affairs generally accepts
A.A.S. degrees of accreditated institutions anyway, this
proposal will save the time and effort of obtaining that
approval.

The 蜜桃影像 Faculty Senate passed the following at its' Meeting #46 on
December 6,1993:
MOTION PASSED
==============
The 蜜桃影像 Faculty Senate moves to approve the following policy on
Student-Initiated Withdrawal to apply to all Fairbanks campus
courses (i.e., all 蜜桃影像 courses except those given by the rural
campuses or the Center for Distance Education).
The last day for student-initiated withdrawal shall be the fourth
Friday after classes begin for all students except freshman and non-
degree students who will have up until the sixth Friday.
Classes less than a semester in length, shall have a withdrawal
period in the same proportion as semester length courses.
Withdrawals after the deadlines will require the signatures of the
student's adviser, and the cognizant instructor, department head, and
Dean.
Students who are already on a class wait list and who have kept up
with class activity will be allowed to register for the class up until
the fourth Friday after classes begin as vacancies occur.
EFFECTIVE: Fall 1994
RATIONALE: Currently the last day for a student to
withdraw from a class is 9 weeks into the semester
which is approximately 2/3 of the way through the
semester. Since the addition of the core, many students
find it difficult to expeditiously satisfy their core
requirements due to closed classes. This problem is
exacerbated by the present drop policy. The principal
reason for this motion is to help students who are unable
to get into core courses in a timely manner because of
closed classes. This proposal will allow students, who
are on a waiting list for a filled class and have kept up
with the classroom activities for just over three weeks,
an increased opportunity to register for these classes.
The second reason for the motion is to get students to
commit themselves to a class at an earlier date. Thus,
this proposal will produce a class atmosphere that is
more conducive to learning.
