ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ households face higher energy costs than most of the United States, and with its very cold winters, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is unique. For this reason, studies about energy cost burden in the lower 48 are mostly not relevant to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. Researchers at Northern Arizona University are studying energy cost burden and education in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

A master’s student from NRU, in partnership with ACEP, is asking FNSB residents to take part in a one-on-one interview with a researcher. The interviews will be about family education and home heating needs. Questions will also include income history. Interviewees will be asked how they feel about air quality research. The goal of these interviews is to learn how people in the FNSB feel about energy and air quality, and how residents manage their energy cost burden.

Researchers are holding one-on-one interviews between May 12 to May 20 and invite FNSB residents to take part in these interviews. Questions will be about family education and income, air quality, and research in the FNSB.

Interviews will be held at the Rasmussen Library on the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ campus. Please for a 45-minute interview. These interviews are voluntary. Reminders will be sent two weeks prior, as well as the night before.

If you have any questions, please contact Izzy Frazer-Milewsky at irs66@nau.edu to change or cancel your interview.
