Every spring, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, or AISES, college chapters across North America hold seven regional conferences where participants learn from and advocate for each other in science, technology, engineering, and math studies and careers.
This year, the AISES Region 1 Conference will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 12-13 on the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Troth Yeddah’ campus. Region 1 includes ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.
AISES is a national organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in STEM studies and careers.
Baxter Bond, a research engineer at ACEP, is a co-staff advisor for the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ AISES Chapter. Email Bond at bwbond@alaska.edu for inquiries regarding the AISES Regional 1 Conference.
There is no registration or session fee to attend the conference, and there are volunteer opportunities as well. .
