SOM Students Study in China

During ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ MAYmester 2019, a two-week session that allows students to complete a three-credit course, a few School of Management students got to travel to Beijing and Shanghai China for an Operations Management course offered overseas for the first time.

In this course, students learn about the different operations within a corporation or small business. During their trip, students learned about production by visiting various businesses. In one instance, the students observed the machines that turn the silk web of worms into the actual silk fabric.

The students also visited Canature Health Technology Group and witnessed the production line manufacture household water treatment products such as purifiers and softeners.

Although the group got to travel and sight-see, their schedule was also jam-packed with reading, homework, and lessons about the different functions they were viewing. Much of what they experienced was easily connected back to the course material. This trip allowed students to experience in real time what they were learning in their China classroom.
