Students Get Professionally Polished

Another semester, another shopping spree! On Nov. 13-14, SOM hosted another “shopping spree” for School of Management students and students who are members of SOM student organizations. At this event, students are allowed to choose up to five free clothing items from a selection of professional clothing and shoes.

For the past few years, In My Element, a Ӱ alumna-owned women’s clothing boutique, has donated clothing for School of Management (SOM) students. These generous donations help students expand their professional wardrobe so and prepare them to enter the workforce or attend formal events. This year, students shared their thanks with photos and videos to express their appreciation to In My Element for their new, stylish clothing.

Along with the generous support from In My Element, SOM also receives private donations of used professional clothing from community members. This year, we were fortunate to receive a sizeable amount of clothing options for all genders.

For the third year in a row, thanks to a sponsorship from Spirit of Ӱ Federal Credit Union, students could also sign up to apply for an actual free shopping spree at Frank’s Menswear. Selected students will receive guidance from Frank’s staff on how to shop for and style a suit during scheduled days in February. Students will also get select discounts on any clothing items they purchase.

The Professionally Polished program supports the transition from student life to work life. Having a few professional pieces in their wardrobe can help boost students’ confidence during interviews or on their first day on the job after they graduate from college.
