Research at the College of Engineering and Mines (CEM) spans engineering disciplines and beyond. Included within the college are engineers and natural scientists all of who contribute significantly to the ability to address societal issues and help diversify ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's economy. CEM research is conducted through the Institute of Northern Engineering (INE).

The Institute of Northern Engineering (INE) is the research arm of the College of Engineering and Mines providing full-service
to CEM's faculty and students.
INE also oversees four distinct research centers that offer their expertise in transportation, mining, petroleum development, and environmental engineering/hydrology.
