Winter Tours 2024-2025

Winter Tours will be most Thursdays and Sundays, October 24th through December 19th.

We will take a break for the holidays and the coldest and darkest months, then resume winter tours mid February through early April.

Pricing:  Winter Tours are $20 for adults, $10 for youth, and under age 5 are Free.

Guided tours are offered Thursdays and Sundays at 2pm. All tours must be purchased ahead of time online, and tours do sell out.  Please do not come to the farm for a tour without a ticket.

Come prepared for the weather, uneven ground, snow, ice, and/or mud. Tours are primarily outside and there is not a lot of heated space at the Large Animal Research Station!  Temperatures of -20F or colder will cancel the tour. A bathroom is available on site.

All ticket holders will receive instructions for how to get onto the farm for the tour.

Have a group of ten or more?  We can offer you a private tour time, reach out to uaf-lars-tours@alaska.edu or call 907-474-5724

Field trips

Field trips at LARS are a great way to engage your students and get them excited about Arctic ecology and large mammals.  They are suitable for all ages, and content can be adjusted to better fit current curriculum.  Please email us at uaf-lars-tours@alaska.edu to schedule. Field trips should be arranged two weeks in advance.

Cost is $5 per student. Teachers and chaperones are free.  We request that there be 1 adult for every 6 students on the trip as chaperones. If this is not possible please mention that in your email so we can discuss some good pre-trip guidelines to set with your students.
