Religious accommodation
Religious Accommodation emphasizes the importance of a diverse and inclusive campus community. As part of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence, the University will make good faith efforts to provide reasonable religious accommodations to individuals whose sincerely held religious beliefs and practices conflict with a University policy, procedure, or other academic or employment requirement unless such an accommodation would create an undue hardship or fundamentally alter a curriculum or academic program.
To request accommodation:
Employees and visitors:
Accommodations for employees and visitors can be requested through UA by email ua-equity@alaska.edu or phone: 907-450-8200.
Examples of some common employee religious accommodations include flexible scheduling, voluntary shift substitutions or swaps, adjusted travel dates, and modifications to workplace policies or practices.
Students:
Accommodations for students can be requested through the Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability by emailing uaf-DEO@alaska.edu, via phone at 907-474-7300 or in person at 3rd Floor Constitution Hall.
Examples of student accommodations might include excusing class absences, rescheduling an exam, or giving the student a make-up exam, allowing an individual or group presentation to be delivered on a different date, allowing a student to attend a different discussion section for the same class that week, adjusting a due date or assigning the student appropriate make-up work.
Report discrimination:
Regardless of your affiliation, discrimination at UA based on the protected category of religion is prohibited conduct.
