FAQs & Application
The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) offers M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, and Oceanography. M.S. degrees require at least 30 credits and a thesis, while Ph.D. programs require additional coursework, research, and a dissertation. Applicants should contact potential advisors before applying.
CFOS also offers two non-thesis professional master’s degrees: Master of Marine Studies (M.M.S.) and Master of Marine Policy (M.M.P.). The Blue MBA concentration, which is offered by the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ College of Business and Security Management, combines a Master of Business Administration degree with CFOS courses in fisheries science, marine biology and oceanography. These programs provide interdisciplinary training for careers in marine sciences, policy, and business. Explore our website for more details or contact uaf-cfos-academics@alaska.edu with questions.
