CXCS Application Process

Admissions:

Admission to the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies programs follows ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Graduate School requirements and deadlines.

The deadline for fully completed applications is always March 1st.

Required application components:

MA Indigenous Studies

  • Completed (due March 1st)
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with at least a 3.0 ("B") cumulative grade point average in undergraduate studies, and a 3.0 average in your major.
  • Official transcripts of all previous college work (minimum 3.0 GPA). You do not need to submit transcripts from universities within the UA system as they are already on file.
  • Statement of Goals (500 words or less): why applying, professional goals, research interests.
  • Professional vitae/resume
  • Three letters of reference, including two professional references and one letter from a cultural/community organization (signed, dated, no more than 2 years old).
  • Writing sample recommended
  • NOTE: Students with a BA degree grade point average below 3.0 must take the

PhD Indigenous Studies

  • Completed (due March 1st)
  • Official transcripts of all previous college work (minimum 3.0 GPA). You do not need to submit transcripts from universities within the UA system as they are already on file.
  • Letter of intent (500 words or less): why applying, professional goals, research interests, and concentration area(s): Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Indigenous Languages, Indigenous Research, Indigenous Leadership, Indigenous Education, and Indigenous Sustainability.
  • Professional vitae/resume
  • Three letters of reference, including two professional references and one letter from a cultural/community organization.
  • Online financial plans and needs (contact the )
  • At least a master's degree is required.

The ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Thesis Formatting and Submission Handbook is prepared by the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Graduate School for graduate students preparing a Master’s thesis or a PhD dissertation.

Thesis/Dissertation Formatting Sessions and FAQs

The ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Graduate School hosts regular thesis/dissertation formatting sessions where they will review the submission process and timeline, as well as the common formatting errors. Students can also schedule one-on-one sessions with an advisor.
