If you are a recently discharged veteran with service in a theater of combat operations since November 11, 1998, VA can provide you with free medical care for five years from your discharge from active duty for conditions possibly related to your combat service, regardless of your income status.

Additionally, new conditions may be treated with a mandatory co-pay since all veterans meeting this criteria are automatically enrolled in Priority Group 6, regardless of income status.

The Fairbanks VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) is located within Bassett Army Community Hospital on Ft. Wainwright. The CBOC offers a health care program to veterans which includes health promotion, primary care, mental health care, women's health care, orthopedics, audiology, and case management.

Laboratory and X-Ray are provided via services within Bassett Army Community Hospital. Call 907-353-5242 to schedule an appointment or find out when the next orientation briefing will occur.

ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Disability Services provides accommodations to students on the Fairbanks campus as well as on the Bristol Bay, Chukchi, Interior Aleutians, Kuskokwim, Northwest, Community Technical College (CTC), Center For Distance Education (CDE), and College for Rural and Community Development (CIS) campuses. Students using community campuses or distance learning programs should contact Disability Services via telephone (907-474-5655), fax, e-mail, U.S. postal mail, or in person to request and arrange for accommodations.

By dialing 1-800-273-TALK (8255), the call is routed to the nearest crisis center in our national network of more than 150 crisis centers. The Lifeline's national network of local crisis centers provide crisis counseling and mental health referrals day and night.

Fairbanks Vet Center logoVet Centers offer a wide range of services to help you make a successful transition from military to civilian life. You've earned these benefits and there is no cost to you or your family members. Services include :

  • medical & benefits referrals
  • employment counseling

Call 907-456-4238 to schedule an appointment. Normal working hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. In an effort to better serve the veteran and family members, upon request Vet Centers will provide services after normal work hours and/or on weekends.


ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Student Health and Counseling Center

Included in the cost of the Student Health and Counseling Center fee, students receive up to 5 free counseling sessions per semester. If a student requires more than 5 sessions, our counselors will do their best to refer them to the most appropriate community resource.
