BSEM 2017, MSDM 2017
After serving 24 years in the US Air Force, my urge to continue to be of service never went away. I was fortunate to attend a career exposition and spoke with members of the College of Business and Security Management about the Homeland Security Emergency Management (HSEM) bachelor's program at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. The curriculum gave me a civilian’s insight into the professionals of the field that perform tasks such as executing training, testing and drilling; and mobilizing emergency services and responders.
After completing my degree requirements in HSEM, both Cameron Carlson and Troy Bouffard, who are instrumental members of the College of Business and Security Management, encouraged me to join the Master of Security and Disaster Management (MSDM) program. The online MSDM offers specialized knowledge in key areas of the career field such as policy and procedures, community planning, leadership, public relations, and intergovernmental communication. Currently, the online degree program gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and offer applicable expertise in the field, volunteering with my city’s Emergency Operations Center in regional training activities.
